Does your university as a body have targets to admit students who fall into the bottom 20% of household income group (or a more tightly defined target) in the country?

All Malaysians are categorized into three different income groups:

1.   Top 20% (T20)

2.   Middle 40% (M40)

3.   Bottom 40% (B40)

 

STUDENT INTAKE REPORT 2024

 

In 2024, the university achieved an overall enrollment of 2,542 students, surpassing the target of 2,495 with a 102% achievement rate. The highest intake was recorded at the bachelor’s level, followed by diploma and professional programs, all exceeding their respective targets. However, postgraduate enrollments (master’s and doctoral levels) fell below expectations. Overall, the university demonstrated strong performance in undergraduate recruitment while needing to enhance strategies for postgraduate admissions.

Total students’ admission for the year 2024 based on income groups are as follows:

Based on the figure, the total student admission for the year 2024 indicates that the majority of students (57%) admitted in 2024 come from the B40 income group, reflecting the university’s significant role in providing educational access to students from lower-income families.
