SIGNING CEREMONY OF THE MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION AND PREMIER LECTURE WITH THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN MINISTERS OF EDUCATION ORGANIZATION REGIONAL CENTRE FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION (SEAMEO SEN)
Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and held a Premier Lecture with SEAMEO SEN on Wednesday, 6 March 2024, at Lecture Theatre 5.1.6.
The event, organized by the Faculty of Computing and Multimedia (FCOM), was attended by UPTM lecturers and students. The signing ceremony was officiated by Associate Professor Dr. Sharifah Syahirah binti Sy. Shiekh, Vice-Chancellor of UPTM, and Dr. Mohd Azlis Sani bin Md. Jalil, Deputy Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Special Education (SEAMEO SEN), and witnessed by Dr. Saifuddin bin Hj Mohtaram, Dean of FCOM.
Through this collaboration, UPTM aims to strengthen mutual understanding and partnership with SEAMEO SEN while expanding its international presence, particularly within the Southeast Asian region. This cooperation also reflects UPTM’s aspiration to produce competitive lecturers and students equipped with the skills to conduct quadraplex helix research involving universities, industries, and the public sector. The partnership opens opportunities for both institutions to explore and initiate collaborative research and innovation, which will benefit the UPTM community and create a positive impact in the field of education.

UPTM ESTABLISHES ACADEMIC COLLABORATION WITH UNIVERSITIES IN HONG KONG
The Consulate General of Malaysia warmly welcomes Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia’s (UPTM) initiative to collaborate with The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the Young Talent Development Programme (YTP).
The Consul General of Malaysia assured that the Consulate General in Hong Kong, representing Wisma Putra, will provide full assistance and support to graduates from the Foundation in Commerce (FC001) and Foundation in Information Technology (FT001) programmes who intend to pursue their bachelor’s degrees in Hong Kong.
On 26 April 2024, Associate Professor Dr. Sharifah Syahirah binti Sy Shiekh, Vice Chancellor of UPTM, signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) and a Note of Collaboration (NoC) on behalf of UPTM with The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). All three universities are expected to send their respective Letters of Acknowledgment (LoA) following this meeting.

A total of 13 Malaysian higher education institutions, including UPTM, participated in this education fair. The fair targeted students who have completed grades 11 and 12, as well as diploma graduates, to pursue their studies in Malaysia.

On 15 and 16 May 2024, the "Let's Study in Malaysia" Education Fair was held at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta and the Swiss-Bel Hotel in Bogor, Indonesia, organized by Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS).
A total of 19 Malaysian higher education institutions, including UPTM, participated in this education fair. The fair targeted students who have completed grade 12, as well as diploma and bachelor's degree holders, to pursue their studies in Malaysia.
This Education Fair was launched by the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin. It is hoped that this effort will further strengthen UPTM's brand and international network while also increasing the number of international students in the future.

On 24 May 2024 (Friday), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) welcomed a courtesy visit from the delegation of Universidad Ixtlahuaca, CUI Mexico.
The delegation was led by Dr. Margarito Ortega Ballesteros, Rector of Universidad Ixtlahuaca, along with Dr. Karina Balderas Pérez (Director, Faculty of Computer and Telecommunications Engineering), Dr. Alicia Rendón Domínguez (Director, Bachelor of Gastronomy), Professor Dato’ Dr. Rashila Ramli (Principal Visiting Fellow, UNU-IIGH), Dr. Nik Mohamad Hasif Mat (Junior Fellow, Latin American Studies Centre, UKM), and representatives from UTHM and UKM.
The meeting discussed potential collaborations in academic programmes, research initiatives, and student mobility between both institutions. A Note of Collaboration (NoC) was also signed to formalize the partnership.
This visit marked an important step for UPTM in exploring academic opportunities in South America, beginning with Universidad Ixtlahuaca, CUI Mexico, and paved the way for future academic and expertise exchanges between the two universities.

VISIT BY THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG (HKU) STUDENTS
On 29 May 2024 (Wednesday), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) welcomed a delegation from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) as part of the international student mobility programme between the two universities.
The delegation comprised Mr. Nate Ho, Programme Manager from the HKU Admissions Office; Ms. Teresa Deng, Student Recruitment Advisor; and 30 students from The University of Hong Kong.
During the visit, UPTM students had the opportunity to engage and interact with the HKU students through a variety of fun and interactive activities. These sessions not only strengthened the bond between both universities but also provided a valuable platform for students to exchange cultures and learning experiences.
This visit is expected to inspire UPTM to continue fostering international collaborations and expanding its global academic network. The initiative aligns with UPTM’s mission to provide a world-class educational experience for its students while enhancing the university’s recognition on the international stage.

CAMBODIA AND VIETNAM
Student Representative Council of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (MPPUPTM) had the opportunity to participate in the historic ASEAN Excursion 2024 program in Cambodia and Vietnam for six days and five nights, from 18 to 23 June 2024.
This program was an initiative by the Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) delegation in collaboration with several strategic partners, including Pertubuhan Insan Cakna Malaysia, Koperasi Kolej Poly-Tech Mara Kuala Lumpur, Institute of Integrated Tahfiz Cambodia, Student Affairs and Alumni UPTM, Centre of Islam General & Language Studies UPTM, and the International Language Education Institute.

The HKUST delegation comprised Ms. Crystal Lui (Manager, Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Office), Mr. Robert Chan (Assistant Manager, Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions Office), and Prof. Dr. Qing Kai Dong (Department of Accounting, School of Business and Management).
The visit signified a strong and growing relationship between UPTM and HKUST, following the academic collaboration agreement signed in April 2024. Various discussions were held to explore opportunities for enhancing international student mobility, internship programmes, credit transfer initiatives, and other academic collaborations.

A delegation from Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTECH), Republic of South Korea, paid a courtesy visit to UPTM on 27 August 2024 to strengthen the direction of academic cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions.
UPTM welcomed their intention to collaborate in the field of Academic Internationalisation, which includes offering academic programs, lecturer and student mobility, opening university branch offices in both Malaysia and South Korea, and signing a memorandum of collaboration, among other initiatives. UPTM and SeoulTECH will hold a more detailed follow-up discussion to finalise the collaboration plan's working paper and will reconvene next week for this purpose.
The delegation from South Korea was led by Mr. Woo Yong Shin, Operating Director of University Network for International Education (UNIE); Ms. Sun Yeong Hwang, Team Manager of International Relations; Ms. Yuna Park, Team Manager of International Admissions; and Ms. Da Hye Lee (Lilly), Director of UNIE Korea.

WORKING VISIT FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF HONG KONG (HKU) TO UPTM
Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) received an official working visit from The University of Hong Kong (HKU) on 11 October 2024. The visit aimed to strengthen academic collaboration between both universities while opening new opportunities for UPTM diploma students to further their studies at the undergraduate level in Hong Kong.
The HKU delegation comprised Prof. John Wong from the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Kwan Nok-Chan and Prof. Ming Wen from the Faculty of Social Sciences, as well as Ms. Esther Kwok and Mr. Zorian Wong, Directors from the Admissions Office.
As part of the visit, UPTM’s Industrial Relations and Academic Internationalisation Sector (ILAI) organised two International Academic Lecture Sessions delivered by distinguished HKU professors, Prof. John Wong and Prof. Kwan Nok-Chan. In addition, a student interview session was conducted by the HKU Admissions Office for UPTM diploma students interested in pursuing bachelor’s degree programmes in Hong Kong. A total of 22 students from four different diploma programmes participated in the interview session.
The visit also included an academic internationalisation meeting between UPTM and HKU, chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sharifah Syahirah binti Sy Sheikh, Vice-Chancellor of UPTM, together with the Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Deans, and the Director of Industrial Relations and Academic Internationalisation.

UPTM ESTABLISHES ACADEMIC COLLABORATION WITH SOUTH KOREAN UNIVERSITIES
A delegation from South Korean universities, namely the University Network for International Education (UNIE), Hanyang University, and the Seoul National University of Science & Technology, signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) on Thursday, 17 October 2024.
The meeting focused on potential collaborations in academic development, research initiatives, and the establishment of student mobility programs between the institutions.
The South Korean delegation was warmly received by Associate Professor Dr. Sharifah Syahirah binti Sy Shiekh, Vice-Chancellor of UPTM; Professor Ts. Dr. Zahrah binti Yahya, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Internationalisation); Associate Professor Dr. Syamsul Fozy bin Osman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs); Professor Dr. Muhamad Nizam bin Jali, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation); Dr. Haji Mohd Erfino bin Haji Johari, Director of the Industrial Linkages and Academic Internationalisation Sector (ILAI); along with other members of UPTM’s management team.
This courtesy visit serves as an aspirational milestone for UPTM, paving the way to explore new academic market opportunities in East Asia, particularly South Korea.

RUSSIAN EMBASSY IN MALAYSIA
On 5 November 2024, Prof. Madya Dr. Sharifah Syahirah and team paid a courtesy visit to the Russian Embassy in Malaysia. The delegation was warmly welcomed by TYT Naiyl M. Latypov. Russian Ambassador. During the visit, UPTM expressed interest in collaborating with the Embassy in various fields, particularly in education, research and knowledge exchange. This partnership aims to enhance UPTM’s global competitiveness and attract more international students.

MOU SIGNING WITH INSTITUSI PONDOK PESANTREN SUNAN PANDANARAN
INDONESIA
Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) extends its sincere appreciation for the warm hospitality shown during the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with Institusi Pondok Pesantren Sunan Pandanaran, located at Jl. Kaliurang Km 12.5, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, held on 3 December 2024.
The event marked an important milestone in fostering academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and educational partnership between UPTM and the esteemed institution. Through this MoU, both parties aim to strengthen cooperation in areas such as student and staff mobility, joint research initiatives, curriculum development, and community engagement programs.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing education and nurturing global partnerships, in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
