This recognition was received on 6 January 2023 from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), making it the second MARA educational institution to achieve full university status.
Official Ceremony known as "Majlis Pemasyhuran Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia" has been held on 13 Mac 2023 at Hotel Premiera, Kuala Lumpur. Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, stated that this recognition will propel UPTM towards developing skilled and professional human capital, especially in the fields of business, accounting, education, and information technology.
