The Gerobok Rezeki Project made its return to Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) on Thursday, 15 August 2024. This initiative is the result of a strategic collaboration between the UPTM Zakat Management Committee, the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), and Empire Project. The monthly contribution of food and hygiene essentials throughout 2024 has benefited hundreds of UPTM students with each distribution.

UPTM is proud to be ranked third highest among universities receiving this monthly incentive from MAIWP.Congratulations and appreciation are extended to the Zakat Management Committee and the Department of Student Affairs and Alumni (HEPA) for successfully organizing the Gerobok Rezeki distribution program.

From January to July 2024, the UPTM Zakat Management Committee has successfully secured external zakat funding amounting to nearly RM500,000. This funding has enabled monthly financial assistance to be provided to over 300 deserving students.

In addition to today’s distribution ceremony, UPTM students may also obtain free food and essential items at the Rahmah Centre, which continues to support students in need on campus.

The delivery of food and hygiene supplies for the ninth and tenth months was carried out successfully through the collaboration between the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) and Empire Project. A total of 10 universities were selected to implement the Gerobok Rezeki Komuniti 'U' MAIWP Season 2, 2024.

From these 10 universities, 5,000 students have benefited from the program. MAIWP has demonstrated strategic planning and a well-structured approach in strengthening its assistance to the community.

Through partnerships with NGOs, private agencies, and various other organizations, hundreds and even thousands of students and families—particularly those within the Federal Territory—have received essential support and relief.

RAHMAH CENTRE

Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia Student Representative Council (MPPUPTM), under the supervision of the Division of Student Affairs & Alumni (BHEPA), has established the Rahmah Center initiative, which serves as a food bank for fellow UPTM students. This Food Bank allows asnaf students to obtain basic necessities such as rice, soy sauce, eggs, sardines, and other essential items.

At the Rahmah Centre of Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), activities conducted are similar to those at food banks elsewhere, but with a focus on the student population. These activities primarily involve food distribution, providing meals to students in need.

In line with this, MPPUPTM would like to gather feedback from UPTM students to help improve the initiative for the benefit and well-being of all.
