Does your university as a body have women's mentoring schemes, in which at least 10% of female students participate?

Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM) has women’s mentoring schemes designed to support and guide female students in their academic and professional development. These schemes include mentorship programs led by experienced lecturers, industry professionals, and alumni, providing guidance, career advice, and personal development support. The programs ensure meaningful participation by female students, empowering them to enhance their leadership skills, confidence, and career readiness.

 

SAVE YOUR SELF (SAYS)

 

The “Save Your Self (SAYS)” program was successfully conducted on 27 October 2024, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, at Dewan PPR Desa Petaling, Kuala Lumpur. The program was part of the Community Event Management and Planning (COC4033) course under the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Corporate Communication, Faculty of Education, Social Sciences, and Humanities (FESSH), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM).

Led by Madam Immie Rozianie Abd Rahim, the activity involved 14 students from Section 1 and was designed for children aged 13 to 15 years old. The program aimed to train participants on effective ways to avoid kidnapping and respond during emergencies. It also sought to raise awareness of appropriate immediate actions in emergency situations outside the home and to strengthen relationships with government agencies responsible for public safety.

Overall, the program achieved its objectives by enhancing participants’ self-protection knowledge, promoting community safety awareness, and fostering collaboration between students and relevant security agencies.

𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬

 

On 29 October 2024, Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) AA201 students from the Faculty of Business & Accountancy (FABA) organized a SULAM program titled Accounting Project for Community (UCS3113). Held at Pusat Komuniti Setiawangsa from 9am to 5pm, the event was guided by Ms. Fatin Nadhrah Binti Mohd Khir and involved 41 students, and participated by small entrepreneurs from the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) Ampang branch.

The program aimed to enhance participants' understanding of digital business tools, assist them in generating new business ideas, and foster a stronger connection between the university and the local business community. This initiative highlights UPTM's dedication to community service and entrepreneurship, promoting lifelong learning and digital business skills

On 2 November 2024, Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) AA201 and Bachelor of Corporate Administration (Honours) (AC201) students organized a SULAM program titled Accounting Project for Community (UCS3113). Held at SMK Seri Gombak from 9am to 5pm, the event was guided by Ms. Fatin Nadhrah Binti Mohd Khir and involved 36 students, and participated by small entrepreneurs from the Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) Gombak branch. 

The program aimed to enhance participants' understanding of digital business tools, assist them in generating new business ideas, and strengthen the relationship between the university and the small business community. This initiative highlights UPTM's dedication to community service and entrepreneurship, promoting lifelong learning and digital business skills.

EMPOWERING BUSINESS IN THE DIGITAL ERA

 

On 9 November 2024, our Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Human Resource Management (AB201) students organized a SULAM program titled Empowering Business in the Digital Era at 12 WKSP BGD, Kem Sungai Buloh from 8.30am to 1.30pm. The program was guided by Dr. Zaliza binti Azan and participated by Badan Kebajikan Keluarga Angkatan Tentera (BAKAT).

This program aimed to provide a platform for entrepreneurs to develop their businesses through digital products. It included training workshops and exhibition booths to help entrepreneurs gain skills and knowledge for the digital business landscape. Talented individuals from the Sungai Buloh area also participated, giving them a chance to learn and expand their networks in digital business. The program's goal was to increase digital business knowledge and skills among participants, helping them adapt to technology and digital approaches for business growth, including ventures like TikTok Affiliates and other digital entrepreneurship.

On 9 & 10 November 2024, our 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀) (𝗔𝗕𝟮𝟬𝟮) students organized a SULAM program titled Empowering Digital Business at Geno Hotel, Subang Jaya. Ms. Zaidatulnisha binti Ab Jalil supervised the program, which involved passionate participants from Usahawan Asnaf TERAS-Lembaga Zakat Selangor.

The program aimed to enhance the Asnaf microentrepreneurs' understanding of managing businesses through digital platforms, particularly in challenging business environments. This program strengthens the relationship between UPTM and the community as well as promoting entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, and digital business skills.

On 10 November 2024, our Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) Human Resource Management (AB201) students organized a SULAM program titled Creativity in Business & Navigating Business Through Digital Platform for Creativity & Innovation in Entrepreneurship (ETR4013) course. Held at TUDM Subang from 8.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., the event was guided by Dr. Zaliza binti Azan and involved 76 students.

Participated by Badan Kebajikan Keluarga Angkatan Tentera (BAKAT), Pangkalan Udara Subang, the program aimed to provide BAKAT members with opportunities to deepen their knowledge of digital entrepreneurship fundamentals, offering them essential insights and practical approaches to succeed in the digital business landscape. Additionally, the initiative focused on supporting the development of participants' social networks, fostering connections that could benefit both personal and professional growth. Through targeted sessions, the program also enhanced participant's understanding of conducting business through social media platforms, equipping them with the skills to reach and engage a broader audience online.

“ECHOES OF ARTS” CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) PROGRAMME

 

The “Echoes of Arts” Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme was successfully held on 9 November 2024 at Pertubuhan Kebajikan Asnaf Al Barakh (PKAAB). Organized by BK101 Semester 4 students, this marked their first CSR initiative, creatively integrating Malaysian traditional arts into a meaningful community engagement.

The programme featured engaging activities such as Sketching Sessions, Batik and Tie-Dye Workshops, Cupcake Decorating, and Painting, all designed to inspire the younger generation particularly orphans at PKAAB by connecting education with creativity and cultural heritage.

The initiative aimed to demonstrate how art can serve as a bridge to learning and self-expression, empowering children to explore knowledge beyond conventional boundaries. The event concluded with heartfelt joy and smiles from the participants, reflecting the programme’s success in nurturing creativ ity, happiness, and cultural appreciation among the community.

On 13 & 14 November 2024, our AB202 students organized a SULAM program titled Empowering Digital Business held at MENARA MAWIP involving passionate participants of Usahawan Asnaf MAWIP. The program was supervised by Ms. Zaidatulnisha binti Ab Jalil. The program was officiated by Encik Ahmad Saifuddin Bin Hj Md Tahir @ Twahir, Pengurus Bahagian Pembangunan Asnaf.

The program aimed to enhance the asnaf micro-entrepreneurs understanding of managing business through digital platforms especially surviving in challenging business environment with the hope to help these Asnaf entrepreneurs to improve their household income. This program also strengthens the relationship between UPTM and the community as well as promoting entrepreneurship, lifelong learning and digital business skills.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EVENT WITH PERBADANAN PERPUSTAKAAN AWAM SELANGOR (PPAS) GOMBAK

 

The Community Engagement Event was successfully held on Saturday, 16 November 2024, at Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Selangor (PPAS) Gombak. The event aimed to cultivate students’ innovation and language skills through creative design, drawing, and presentation activities, while also enhancing their writing and critical thinking skills through essay writing with clear explanations and appropriate vocabulary use.

The program also focused on key student objectives, including achieving a deeper understanding of course materials, improving leadership skills, and strengthening the ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world contexts.

This initiative made a significant contribution to Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting creativity, leadership, and applied learning among students. The event successfully fostered meaningful connections between students and educators, strengthened educational practices, and empowered participants to become confident and capable future leaders.
